Maple Grove Featured in Tank Storage
Magazine
Ted Hobin, Jr., VP of Maple Grove Enterprises
was interviewed recently for an article in Tank Storage magazine
from the United Kingdom.
Deputy editor Luke Buxton sought out Hobin
for his expertise on secondary containment for the article, entitled
"The Second Line of Defence," in the February 2008 issue of the
journal.
Secondary containment is an enclosed area
around a primary containment tank holding oil or related products.
If the primary containment fails, secondary containment must contain
the leaks to prevent environmental consequences that kill wildlife,
pollute water and spoil agricultural land.
Maple Grove Enterprises has been installing
and repairing secondary containment systems for over five years.
Methods of containment include impermeable dike walls, dirt berms,
or galvanized steel walls erected around the primary containment
to contain 110% of the tank capacity. According to Hobin, "The DEC
has increased its workforce and is starting to do more visual inspections
of secondary containment in petrochemical storage" and it is up
to companies such as Maple Grove to make sure that the containment
is secure.
Maple Grove Enterprises provides both primary
and secondary containment services, as well as custom metal fabrication,
millwrighting, welding, sandblasting, industrial coating, and industrial
floor coatings.
