Albert Paley Sculpture for the Clay Center, Charleston, WV

Albert Paley sculpture fabricated by Maple Grove EnterprisesFor a few years now, Maple Grove Enterprises has been sandblasting and coating sculptures by renowned metal artist Albert Paley. This summer, he hired us to fabricate his latest commission: a monumental abstract sculpture for the Clay Center in Charleston, West Virginia.

It's been an incredible journey. Starting in April, we constructed a concrete pad for work on the sculpture. At the same time, the steel for the project arrived on flat beds, and completely consumed our parking lot. Our guys had to inventory thousands of pieces of steel, and the employees had to find parking wherever they find an open piece of field.

Throughout May, June and July, we were bending steel, grinding off imperfections, and welding the components together. By August, it was time to erect the entire sculpture at our site. Once we and the Paley crew were convinced that the sculpture was finished, we disassembled the piece and shipped it to West Virginia.

Our crew was hired to assemble the sculpture at the Clay Center. With our experience in assembling it here first, our guys were able to have the entire sculpture erected in only 9 days. The completed sculpture, named "Hallelujah," stands over 64 feet tall and weighs nearly 200,000 pounds!

Busy Summer at the Grove
