Fabrication and Installation of Molasses Storage Tank

One of our feed mill customers needed a round molasses storage tank that would hold 10,000 gallons. To hold that much, our metal fabricators designed a tank 20 feet high and 10 feet in diameter. The project required that we roll 10′ sheets of steel with our pinch roll. This was a Maple Grove Enterprises project from start to finish. We designed the tank for its custom application, designed and fabricated the OSHA-approved custom outside safety ladder, fabricated the tank, and installed it at the feed mill.

Our metal fabricators rolled the 1/4" x 5' wide x 10' long plate steel for the walls of the molasses storage tank. The tank consists of four separate sections of steel that were welded together. MGE welder Wade Kephart welding a seam on the steel tank. We used a crane and a forklift to mate the sections together. The steel molasses tank is in final stages for welding. The tank is being prepped for sandblasting and then coating. The finished steel molasses tank emerging from our industrial-sized paint booth. The finished tank is loaded and ready to be transported to its final destination at the feed mill.
